Grants for piers in Newport

The grant of €25000 in Dec 2006 was to allow for non slip mats and handrails at all the steps in Newport (4 sets of steps), Mulranny pier ( one step), Currane (3 Steps), and the provision of wheelchair access to Mulranny beach. Roigh pier, Saula, Cloughmore, & Dorans pt had already been done The non slip fiberglass matting was fitted by Inland & Coastal of Bannagher, I asked Martin Forrestal (Glenhest) to fabricate and fit the handrail but the area Engineer Ger Hynes over ruled me and gave the job to Cathal Shevlin Belmullet. Neither the handrail or the wheelchair access to Mulranny beach have been done.
