Dear Thomas,

An IWA working group has been working with Croke Park since March 2007 on accessibility issues.

Since then we have progressed somewhat but not as much as we have hoped.

Croke Park have erected signage and placed a message on TV screens asking all bodied patrons to remain seated during matches. They also claim they have highlighted disability awareness issues among their stewards.

IWA feels this helps but is certainly not enough – IWA wants the wheelchair section either moved or vastly improved so the line of vision cannot be impeded by able bodied patrons under any circumstances.

At this stage of the negotiations Croke Park are not cooperating with any suggestions or recommendations being made by the IWA.

We are considering our options in terms of lobbying them further.

Please note we have not been communicating with Croke Park re parking issues.

Regards,

Nicky Hamill

Hi Nick,

I have been informed by Tony McGuinness Stadium Safety Officer Páirc an Chrócaigh Teo that you were working with his team of staff in Croke Park to make it more accessible for all.

Could you tell me what has been done to the stands so far and if parking for disabled drivers have been improved.

I look forward to a reply.

Regards,

Tom
