Subject: STATEMENT ON CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING (CCIL)
Statement re Dermot Walsh's membership of the Center for Independent Living LTD.
Prepared 11th December 13
I wish to put on public record that I have not and will not accept any motion from the board to remove my membership of the Center of Independent Lining. I would also wish to make it clear the chairperson forced me to resign with an agreement which he later went back on
The 11th November after 21st birthday party the vice-chairperson invited me for a drink he asked me to put the past behind us and move on. Then I shook hands with the person and went for a drink. He asked me later that night what was my problem with him?
In May 11 I asked a number of question re board expenses, I claimed that, as I still do that the vice-chairperson expenses were to high and he was in Dublin 2/4 times a week he lives in Claire. It would be my opinion the said person should never have being dealing with staff on a daily basis. The chairperson claimed it was agreed by the board which is not in fact the case. At the June board meeting I resigned and later withdrew my resignation by email. Another board meeting was held behind my back and accepted by resignation. The main tutor on the Disabilities studies course ran by CIL and NUIM was than appointed to the board, just one of many conflicts of interests. This tutor recommended my removal as a tutor, once more I was offered no reason and lost a lot of my income.
I also wrote to the HSE with my concerns they were investigated and a number of issues came to lights I am not aware of the outcome to date and call on the reverent HSE personnel to make the findings available, it is also my opinion that the chairperson and vice-chairperson actively disempower people with Disabilities from getting or being involved. There is little evidence that CIL has an impact of disability issues. It is highly questionable whether the current board enjoys a mandate from us the members. Some contents published on facebook also need to be looked at in the context of CIL been an advocacy and lobby group
THE END
