In my assessment as a Member of the European Parliament's Agriculture Committee, the final deal on CAP reform is a reasonable compromise which contains enough flexibility to safeguard the future of Irish farmers on both good and marginal land.

Progress in the battle to end Irish water fluoridation
As part of my ongoing work on this matter, in June 2013 I supported Irish campaigner Iva Pocock to appear before the EU Parliament's Petitions Committee as part of an ongoing campaign to end the fluoridation of Irish water supplies.

New EU rules on seeds coming before MEPs - important for Gardeners and Farmers!

I have been monitoring the European Commission's proposal for new EU rules on seeds/plant reproductive materials, and I will put forward amendments in the Parliament's Agriculture Committee to ensure that Irish farmers and gardeners should be free to produce and exchange their own seeds and propagating material, without unnecessary limitations.

MEPs took an important step towards EU gender equality in early July when we finally agreed a roadmap to ensure more women take their place on company boards in the European Union.
