I am sure you are all aware that after the cuts of €10million were announced by the Government on Thursday the 30th August to the Personal Assistants Service the Leaders Alliance immediately organised a protest outside Government Buildings for the following Tuesday 4th September.
Leaders from all over the country came and gave their support and this was a very successful protest and the cuts were reversed. A number of the Leaders protested overnight until they received in writing what had been promised.
While the cuts in regard to PA hours were reversed there is still a lot of work to be done as a lot more needs to be achieved.
John Roche, who is a founder member of the Leaders Alliance, and also a Board member of Greater Dublin Independent Living Limited has asked me to email all our Members to ask if any of you would like to get involved with this recently formed group. There are no restrictions on who joins the Leaders Alliance and any responses that GDIL receive will be passed on to the Leaders Alliance.
