Dear Thomas, It has now been just over three months since the phenomenally well attended launch of Ireland's Code of Practice for Good Governance of Community, Voluntary and Charitable (CVC) Organisations in Dublin's Mansion House. There has been a flurry of activity on the www.governancecode.ie website over the summer with almost 1,000 people registering their interest on the website. I am emailing you on behalf of The Working Group that developed the Code to invite you to one of a series of post-launch information events taking place around Ireland in the coming weeks. The purpose of each event is to: -
reconnect with those whom we met at the public consultation phase for the draft Code last year and provide an update as to what has happened since; -
explore how organisations are progressing with the adoption of the now finalised Code; -
share learnings and experiences about the challenges faced within organisations who are on the road to adoption of the Code and the best ways to overcome them. The consultation events will take place from 5pm - 8pm on the following dates and at these locations and will be very interactive in nature. They are timed specifically to attract both paid staff people as well as volunteer board membership - so please pass this on to you board or management committee so that they are aware of it: - Galway: Wednesday 7 Nov
- Sligo: Thursday 8 Nov
- Cork: Wednesday 14 Nov
- Waterford: Thursday 15 Nov
- Dublin: Tuesday 20 Nov
Register for a free event here. These events are part of a national programme of communication and dissemination being run by the Working Group behind the Code to encourage all organisations in the community, voluntary, charity sector to adopt the Code. We hope that you can attend, and also that you can spread the word in your own networks about these events. At the launch of the Governance Code in June, Minister Hogan spoke very compellingly about the need for all organisations to be able to demonstrate that they are run to the highest standards of governance and he praised the sector for developing this Code which provides an easy, accessible framework for organisations to do just that. Register for a free event here.
