The Minister for Social Protection has said it is time people moved away from 'personality politics' and concentrated on the severe issues facing the country.
Referring to comments made by Fianna Fáil TD Sean Power on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Éamon Ó Cuív said people were entitled to their opinion.
However, he said Brian Cowen has the support of the overwhelming number of people in the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party.
Asked if there was still an undercurrent of dissatisfaction within the Parliamentary Party, he said that was not the case and the majority believe Mr Cowen is the man to lead Fianna Fáil in Government.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Tourism, Culture & Sport has said no-one has the appetite to take on a challenge against Brian Cowen.
Mary Hanafin said people who may have been outspoken against the Taoiseach in the past did not do so at this week's parliamentary party meeting.
She said instead those people reaffirmed the need to stick together and give leadership.
Speaking about comments made by Mr Power, Minister Hanafin described him as an honest man, but she said there is no group of people lined up behind him to support his view.
She said as a party, everyone in Fianna Fáil needs to ensure it is not distracted from the preparation of the Budget
