MAYO SUPPORTERS TRAVELLING TO KILDARE GIVEN RED ALERT WARNING
BY Fergal Kelly
Mayo GAA supporters have been issued with a warning that they are putting their lives in danger by travelling to Kildare for the opening round of The Allianz National League. Gardai have received intelligence that there is potential for serious trouble as Kildare casuals have apparently teamed with the Irish branch of the Ku Klux Klan – who see Kildare as their spiritual home.
The Irish branch of the KKK, have become active over the last couple of months. Traditionally they terrorised African Americans during the Civil Rights Movement. However, their Irish chapter have set their sights on causing as much trouble to anyone they can get their white sleeves on. Their pent up aggression and lust for blood has seen them surprisingly team up with White Noise – the Kildare GAA casuals. White Noise are the most feared casual group doing the rounds on the GAA circuit. Last year, they had running battles with Gardai on Jones Road. They also threw bottles at opposition supporters, urinated on car doors and attempted to start a fire outside a home for sick children.
The fact that these two groups are working together will be of huge concern to Mayo GAA supporters. A county board spokesman told The Mayo Globe: "We advise all of our supporters to get dropped directly outside the ground, watch the game and then get straight into their cars or buses after the final whistle. If this is not an option then do not roam around Newbridge on your own, stay in groups. Back alleys and side streets should be avoided at all costs. These thugs are out for blood; hopefully they won't get a drop.
At least 1,200 Mayo supporters are expected to make the trip to Newbridge on Sunday.
