Turlough Park

Mr. Tony Candon

Manager

National Museum of Ireland

Turlough Park

Castlebar

Co. Mayo

Date: 15th March 2010

Dear Mr. Candon

I have recently visited the Museum in Turlough Park, Castlebar. As I am confined to a wheelchair I found overall access an issue.

There are a few areas that I feel need to be addressed to make the building universally accessible for all. As I have completed an access course run by the University of Ulster I feel qualified to highlight issues that affect the less vulnerable in society.

Areas that would be included are:

1. Parking facilities for disabled drivers/ passengers

2. Disabled toilets

3. Highlight columns in building

4. Overall signage

5. Lifts and stairs

6. Glass windows etc.

I would like to meet with you in person to carry out a walking audit of the main buildings.

Looking forward to meeting with you.

Yours truly,

……………..

Tom Chambers
